basically I consider my tribe like land mines; they're hidden threats
-Boston Rob
The alliance I have with Boston Rob is going great. I was hesitant about working with him or trusting him, but he's an excellent source of information. I like everything I'm getting out of this right now, and I'm pretty happy.
So Rob tells me Monica wants to win immunity, kidnap Heidi, and work together, because kidnapped people get a clue to the HII and get to share with one person from the other tribe.
After I heard that? Immunity was MINE.
I didn't really care about immunity for the sake of safety. I don't want to be cocky but I think I'm pretty secure right now. I didn't want to win until I got that nice little tidbit. After that though? I was HELLBENT on winning that puzzle. I got down to 10:18, but it didn't feel low enough. At the last minute, I managed 9:46.
And that was kind of overkill.
Just a tiny bit. I had a third of the other tribe's winner's time. Whatever. I wanted that win. I wanted that clue. I have that clue. Originally the plan was to kidnap Rob and let him give me the clue. That, and I knew he was insecure as all hell on Weerlig and it would have been nice to save him and gain a bit of trust from him. That plan was changed when Monica IMed me about a minute after results went up and came to me with a proposal.
Monica 10:08 pm
(10:08:07 PM): Congrats on winning immunity!
brettclous 10:08 pm
(10:08:21 PM): Thanks!
Monica 10:08 pm
(10:08:50 PM): So I have a proposition.
brettclous 10:08 pm
(10:08:58 PM): Umm.. shoot
Monica 10:09 pm
(10:09:12 PM): When you are kidnapped, you get an idol clue.
(10:09:28 PM): and you get the chance to share it with one person on the tribe that you're kidnapped to.
(10:09:36 PM): so last time, since id din't know anyone, i didn't share it.
(10:09:43 PM): but if you kidnap me, i will share the idol clue with you this time.
(10:09:55 PM): it'd be a lovely gateway to a cross-tribal alliance.
brettclous 10:10 pm
(10:10:06 PM): Yeah, it would
Monica 10:10 pm
(10:10:12 PM): You down with kidnapping me, then?
Very straightforward. So, there were a few pitfalls to accepting. I'd already promised Rob I would kidnap him and we would work on the clue together. But, Monica's speed and straightforwardness in coming to me made it hard to turn her down. The way I see it, after she tells me all about the clue shit, I'm pretty much stuck going with her. She's giving me a good amount of information. I turn her down and kidnap Boston Rob, then the alliance is compromised, and she has reason to go against me next available opportunity.
Anyway, I kidnapped her and she sent me the clue. I filled in Rob a bit about it. I asked about his clue. We compared notes. Our clues were different.
Boston Rob 1:54 am
(1:54:05 AM): O.o
(1:54:09 AM): okay ours are different then
brettclous 1:54 am
(1:54:13 AM): yup
Boston Rob 1:54 am
(1:54:19 AM): means theres 2 HIIs
brettclous 1:54 am
(1:54:25 AM): 2 different HIIs for 2 different camps I guess
Boston Rob 1:54 am
(1:54:52 AM): I really do wanna work with you at the merge or a tribe shuffle :-)
brettclous 1:54 am
(1:54:53 AM): I'm currently looking through every even season for cool titles
(1:54:57 AM): me too
Boston Rob 1:54 am
(1:54:58 AM): :-D
brettclous 1:55 am
(1:55:15 AM): if I didnt, trust me I would not be sharing any of this information
Boston Rob 1:55 am
(1:55:36 AM): theres only 1 HII out there though
brettclous 1:55 am
(1:55:48 AM): there's gonna be 2
(1:55:54 AM): 2 different sets of clues
Boston Rob 1:55 am
(1:55:55 AM): there WAS 2 ;-)
So yeah. Rob is packing heat.
It's brilliant really. They kidnap useless Jimmy, he gets the clue, they don't know who he sends the clue to. Jimmy gets voted out ( ) the kidnapping=HIIclue becomes common knowledge eventually, no one expects Rob to be Jimmy's pal, packing heat.
I also feel a bit better having been given this information. Rob seems to actually be trusting me and I like having that kind of open working alliance.
I think having 2 HIIs between the 2 of us would be amazing. If I don't get the clue on my first try, I'll just have to do whatever it takes to get it.
It's mine.
